Item Description:The Boston medical intelligencer began as a journal primarily for those in the medical field, but eventually came to be directed to the public as well, its chief object being to promote health by pointing out causes of disease and means of prevention and cure. In addition, a wide variety of medical miscellany -- local news, biographical sketches, information on hospitals, society proceedings, critical notices -- and some nonmedical material were included.
