Reproduction of an alphabetical card index to compiled service records. Each card gives the name of soldier, rank and unit.
The actual records indexed were compiled beginning in 1890 under direction of Capt. Fred C. Ainsworth, head of the Record and Pension Division of the War Dept. Reproductions of the actual records may be obtained from the National Archives.
An alphabetical contents listing by reel number can be found on reel 1.
