Cyhoeddwyd:Vol. 1, no. 1 (1855)-v. 2 (1855)
Disgrifiad o'r Eitem:The Rev. Abijah R. Baker, pastor of the Congregational Church at Wellesley, Massachusetts, edited this family-oriented religious magazine with the assistance of his wife, Harriette Newell Woods Baker, herself an author. The Happy Home did not advocate any particular doctrine, and was concerned mainly with improving family life and relations between parents and children and between husbands and wives, and thus it offered much instructive material--moral tales, essays by ministers, including some on Christian integrity in business, Bible stories, Biblical notes, prayers, biographical sketches, and poetry. Musical pieces appeared in most issues. Not all the material was religious, however; there was much on fashion, sentimental prose and poetry, household hints and recipes, foreign and domestic news, book notices, some humor, and numerous illustrations. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
