| Item Description: | "Third edition. Sixteenth thousand." See BAL 1105 for 2nd edition. Bound in blue cloth; stamped in gold and black; covers bevelled; pale peach endpapers. According to V. Starrett's "Ambrose Bierce, a bibliography" (p. 28-30) this "appears to have been the joint production of Ambrose Bierce and Thomas A. Harcourt". The William Herman on t.-p. was William Herman Rulofson, who financed it. Bierce claims only to have edited it and rewritten one chapter. |
