That the army may be duly supplied with shoes, stockings, and shirts, it is resolved, that the selectmen of the several towns ... appoint some ... person or persons, as agent or agents ... to purchase ... shoes ... stockings and shirts ..

February 7, 1777 Resolutions instructing selectmen of the towns to obtain and pay for one-seventh of all men's pairs of of shoes, stockings and shirts in that town, to be used by the Continental Army.
