| 500 | |a Begun as a semi-monthly, the Michigan Farmer later became a monthly and for the second half of its life was a weekly. It had many different editors. For the first few years it was devoted exclusively to agriculture, horticulture, and the household, but in 1853 an education section was added. Contents included articles on caring for livestock and crops, and illustrated articles on farm machinery. Particular attention was given to Michigan farmers and to state fairs; and the "Rambles" series described various cities and towns in Michigan. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900. | ||
