In addition to articles and case studies on various diseases and their treatments, which were illustrated by diagrams and figures, it included reviews of recent books and American medical journals, analysis of foreign journals, coverage of medical societies, and small news items Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900. Several pages are stained. Individual issues following the title page numbered volume 14 are numbered as volume 15. The next volume is printed as volume 16. Vols. 15 and 16: Irregular paging throughout. Vol. 16: Volume number on title page and issues has been altered. Vol. 16: pgs. 166-168 wanting. Best copy available for photocopying.
