Item Description: | A semimonthly journal published under the patronage of the Buffalo Lyceum and devoted exclusively to literature, science, and "general intelligence." In the literary department were tales, poetry, essays, anecdotes, humorous sketches, a series on British literature, and notices and reviews of new works. Occasional scientific articles dealt with botany and geology; and general intelligence included such material as domestic and foreign news, proceedings of state and national legislatures, proceedings of the Buffalo Lyceum, biographical memoirs of eminent persons, and articles on history and the arts.
