Description
Published:Vol. 1, no. 1 (Jan. 1818)-v. 1, no. 36 (Nov. 7, 1818)
Item Description:This weekly literary miscellany proposed to devote a large portion of its space to original prose and verse, but much of its sentimental fiction and poetry were selected from other publications. Special features were its biographical sketches of eminent women and its criticism of the theater. Geography and history were given some attention; and anecdotes, some of them humorous, and a summary of weekly news, rounded out the contents. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
