The monogram which serves as a colophon has been plausibly deciphered by Vos, 296, as follows: "Gedrukt te Fresenburg door B.L. voor Menno Simons." While the text is in a gothic type, the marginal notes are in roman, a feature which occurs in several of the Fresenburg imprints. Cf. Horst. This partial ed. consists of the final section of the Foundation-Book addressed to civic rulers, learned men, etc. It is here published anonymously. Added to this is a short section, "Vanden geloue," G₅b-G8a, which is taken from an earlier part of the Foundation-Book. A note on G₅b indicates this was added to fill the remaining blank pages of the gathering: "Dese achterste plaetse solde leech ghebleuen hebben dacrom is dit corte tractaet van de geloue hier by gheuoecht."
