Vol. 4 includes two versions of book XII: (1) the edition first published by C. M. Bustamente in 1829, and (2) a direct translation of Sahagún's original Aztec text. The Aztec texts in v. 5 are accompanied by a Spanish translation by Elisabeth Gott of the German version, notes and commentary by Eduard Seler.
