Item Description:Author, title, and imprint from filmer's introductory frame on fiche 1.
The poem has been attributed to Gregorio Dati, to his brother Leonardo, general of the Dominicans, and also to their nephew Leonardo. The earliest printed editions are anonymous but the Pacini editions (Florence, ca. 1495 and 1514) include Gregorio's name. According to a ms. in the Biblioteca magliabechiana the work was "composta per maestro Lionardo Dati, et per Ghoro Dati volgarizzata e messa in rima". For discussion, cf. Italy.
