Description
Published:Vol. 1, no. 1 (May 23, 1833)-v. 1, no. 44 (Mar. 20, 1834)
Item Description:This weekly edited by B. B. Thatcher resembled a newspaper in having four pages of six columns each, small print, many small items, and most advertising on the back page. Although it contained much miscellaneous information, it emphasized social problems, devoting a special section to temperance, which it supported, and much space to abolition and other social movements, and to the activities of various societies. In addition, it provided book reviews, poetry, anecdotes, items of local and foreign news, and a special section on Boston. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
