Item Description:Established by Josiah Holbrook, the Family Lyceum was an organ for the lyceum movement, and was devoted to the popularization of science. The object of this weekly was to furnish material that would be entertaining, instructive, and useful to the family, school, and village lyceum. It included reports of the various terms. Questions on the contents of the previous issue were provided at the end of each number. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
