Description
Published:Vol. 53 (Apr. 1889)-v. 55 (Oct. 1889)
Item Description:Founded and edited by Nathaniel S. Richardson, the Church Review became one of the leading papers of the Protestant Episcopal Church. Contributors such as Arthur Cleveland Coxe, Bishop Doane, Bishop WHittingham, and Clement C. Moore gave the Review a largely religious and theological nature. Space was also afforded education, literature, and social problems. John McDowell Leavitt, M.H. Mallory, and Edward B. Boggs successively edited the Review after Richardson. However, the Review fell greatly out of respect during this period, and it was not until its last editor, Henry M. Baum, that it regained the prominence it once held. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
