The Livre des faits de Jacques de Lalaing (in the main a description of tournaments) is based on the Grande chronique de Georges Chastellain, on the Epitre de Jean Le Fèvre, and on other works now lost. The authorship has been variously attributed to Georges Chastellain, Le Fèvre, Antoine de La Sale, and to the herald Charolais. According to Rudnitzki, the romances Gilles de Chin, Gilion de Trazignyes and Le livre des faits de Jacques de Lalaing were written by the same author, who, in all probability, was the herald Charolais.
