| Descrizione del documento: | Begun in October, 1802 by Samuel Gilbert and Thomas Dean, this four-page miscellany was designed chiefly for "fashionable females" and contained occasional paragraphs on London and Paris fashions. It is important for its attention to fiction and richness in theatrical comment; serial novels, "fragments," and short stories are plentiful, and a "Thespian Department" begun in December 1803 provided reviews of productions at the Boston Theater. It also contained two or three essay series, some scientific miscellany, a "monitorial" department, a section of "amusement," poetry, and current events. In January 1804 the magazine suffered a serious loss by fire but nevertheless continued publication for nearly two more years, selling out in October 1805 to Joshua Belcher and Samuel T.
