| Item Description: | In August 1921 the Dept. of Engineering became the Division of Engineering and Irrigation under the Director of Public Works. The 1921 law (c. 607) which created the Dept. of Public Works abolished the State Water Commission and its functions became the duties of the Division of Water Rights in the Dept. of Public Works. In August 1929, the Division of Engineering and Irrigation and the Division of Water Rights were consolidated to form the Division of Water Resources of the Dept. of Public Works. |
