Item Description:The periodical was chiefly a women's and children's magazine with sections devoted to fashions, music and concert notes, a "Boys' and Girls' Treasury," an editor's department, book reviews, and so forth. It contained highly moral stories and features, written chiefly by Virginia F. Townsend. Arthur's Home Magazine never attained a large circulation, but it was cheap to produce except for illustration. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
