Consequently, it is advisable to check both series with the help of the list and the indexes. There are cross-references between these series both in the body of the papers and in the indexes (in which the 'Confidential Papers' are sometimes described as 'Miss Appleyard's filing'). Since the files were maintained by different persons in different places these cross-references are not exhaustive. |
