The Michigan Farmer of the 1880's was an eight-page weekly containing sections on agriculture and horticulture, a veterinary department, and a "household" department, as well as news summaries, pictures of prize-winning stock, poetry, and many ads. Later it was expanded to about 20 pages per issue, and added building plans for houses and farm buildings, grange news, and a "Magazine Section" containing stories for children, a women's department, stock prices, and ads.
