Περιγραφή τεκμηρίου:Though not the first of the educational periodicals in America, "Russell's Journal of Education", as it was called, was the first really important American magazine in the field of education. Edited by William Russell, it emphasized physical and moral training, and advocated education for women and physical education for both boys and girls. It was chiefly devoted to early or elementary education. After two years, it was turned over to S.G. Goodrich, who kept it for about a year; it was then purchased by James Gordon Carter, a pioneer advocate of normal schools. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
