| Popis jednotky: | This semimonthly literary journal was "devoted to literature, moral and sentimental tales, poetry, etc.," and was to provide instruction and amusements, but no political or religious controversy. It contained selections from the best writers of the day, historical and statistical sketches, notices of new publications, letters to the editor, and tales, poetry, anecdotes and biography. A section called "The Magnolia" contained notes from the editor, magazine reviews, and local news. Selected material was taken from a number of British magazines--London Metropolitan, London Monthly Magazine, and Tait's Edinburgh Magazine, as well as from a number of American publications. Cf.
