Half-title: Proposal for publishing The American Apollo, a new weekly paper, by Belknap & Young. Caption title: Circular letter of the Historical Society. Ornamental headpiece. The Circular letter (p. [1]-3) announces the recent formation of the Historical Society, subsequently the Massachusetts Historical Society, and the inclusion of its proceedings in the American Apollo, and solicits itemized information on local history from recipients of the circular. Signed by Jeremy Belknap, corresponding secretary, Boston, November 1, 1791. The last four pages contain the proposals for the Apollo and space for subscribers' names. The pagination and texts permitted the Proposal and the Circular letter to be distributed either separately or as one. Master microform held by: Readex. |
