Texts chiefly in Latin; some also in English; one ms. in Anglo-Saxon. Title on reel 1, fr. [2]: Church authority and power in medieval and early modern Britain: the episcopal registers, 1215-1650. After the establishment of the Church of England in 1534, English ecclesiastical records refer to the national church; before that date, ecclesiastical records refer to the Catholic Church.
