By His Excellency Samuel Huntington, Esquire, governor and commander in chief of the state of Connecticut. A proclamation : Whereas the Honourable General Assembly at their session begun and held at New-Haven on the second Thursday of October last, passed an act ... That there be contributions in the several religious societies and congregations ... to the support of such missionaries ... in those settlements in the northern and western parts of the United States ... Given at Norwich, the eleventh day of March, A.D. 1793 .
March 11, 1793 proclamation issued by Governor Sam Huntington, stating that the proclamation be read in churches during some Sunday in April to request contributions for funds to the missionaries in the state to preach in the north and western parts of the United States.
